Hybrid Threats Challenge Western Security
Cooper told the Foreign Office that hostile actors threaten infrastructure, interfere with democracies, and weaken national interests through hybrid attacks.
She described disinformation campaigns using AI-generated and manipulated videos designed to erode Western support for Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s invasion.
Cooper confirmed the UK monitors physical attacks such as sabotage alongside online campaigns spreading false political narratives.
Officials cited Moldova’s election and Zelenskyy-targeting fake news as recent evidence of coordinated influence operations.
Emphasising Global Cooperation and NATO Support
Cooper marked the 100th anniversary of the Locarno Treaties, highlighting the need for international cooperation to maintain European security.
She criticised disruptions to alliances, warning US actions under Trump have cast doubt on NATO’s reliability.
Cooper met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who reaffirmed America’s commitment to NATO and collective defense.
