The 27-year-old has two goals this season and is seen as a deeper-lying striker.
With Niclas Füllkrug loaned to Milan, Callum Wilson is the club’s only senior forward.
West Ham are also exploring a short-term deal for Adama Traoré.
A centre-back remains a priority, while winger Luis Guilherme is set to join Sporting.
